Life at Hero IT

Remote-first. Outcome-focused. Actually flexible.

We don't track hours, monitor screens, or measure productivity by Slack status. We measure by what you build, what you ship, and the impact your work has on Calgary businesses.

The Setup

How we're set up

Remote-First

Most roles can be done from anywhere in Calgary. We have an office downtown (888 3rd St SW) for those who want it, but nobody tracks hours or monitors screens.

Flexible Hours

We care about outcomes, not clock-watching. Core collaboration hours are 10am–3pm MT, but beyond that, structure your day around your life.

Modern Equipment

MacBook or ThinkPad — your choice. External monitors, headset, and a $500 home office stipend to make your workspace comfortable.

Compensation & Benefits

The full package

Competitive Base Pay

Transparent salary ranges on every posting. No guessing games, no lowball offers, no waiting until the final interview to find out what the job pays.

Health & Dental Benefits

Full health and dental coverage starting day one. Extended health, vision, prescription, and paramedical services included for you and your dependents.

Remote-First Flexibility

Work from home, from our Calgary office, or both. We care about output, not where your desk is. Some roles require on-site work—we’ll always be upfront about that.

Paid Time Off

Three weeks vacation plus personal days and sick leave from your start date. We don’t track hours obsessively—take time when you need it.

Professional Development

$2,000 per year learning budget for courses, conferences, and books. We also pay for industry certifications—CompTIA, Microsoft, Google, and more.

Team Outings

Quarterly team events (bowling, escape rooms, dinners), an annual retreat, and weekly virtual socials for the remote crew. We like working with each other.

Modern Equipment

MacBook or ThinkPad—your choice. External monitors, peripherals, and a $500 home office stipend to set up a workspace that actually works for you.

Real Growth Path

Promotions based on outcomes, not tenure or politics. We’ll share exactly what you need to demonstrate to move up, and we’ll help you get there.

Daily Life

What a typical week looks like

Monday

Team standup, project kickoffs, and planning for the week. Quick 15-minute sync so everyone knows what's in flight.

Tuesday – Thursday

Deep work, client calls, and deployments. Most of your week is heads-down building, configuring, and shipping real work for real businesses.

Friday

Learning time, documentation, and a team social at 3pm. Use Friday mornings for certifications, exploring new tools, or writing up what you built that week.

Plus quarterly team outings (axe throwing, escape rooms, dinners) and an annual company retreat.

Variety

The kind of work you'll do

Morning

Deploy a Next.js site for a dental clinic

Afternoon

Configure Microsoft 365 for a law firm

Next day

Set up an AI chatbot for a plumbing company

Friday

Run a cybersecurity audit for a financial advisor

No two days are the same. That's the point.
